Referencing architecture and the environment, this work questions the need for plastic plumbing which can be made in ceramic as it was in the past; from a natural, sustainable and durable substance, sourced from the ground itself.

Dothiorella Davidiae (2019)

Influenced by the archives in the Herbarium at the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin, my intention has been to reflect the achievements of botanist, Maura Scannell (1924 - 2011). Through a series of forms which might suggest growth and discovery, an exploration of extruding techniques has been a means of allowing clay as a material to determine the outcome of the work; a response to the natural lines formed in the process.
